IBM Applies For More Patents

IBM has just applied for a new patent which – if passed – would provide an amazing upgrade for developers. The aim behind the software is to enable developers to actually mark coding updates and any milestones along the way using Blockchain. This would be an amazing piece of technology for the industry and would possibly assist with removing those awful loopholes that are now popping up in code which in the end allow for hackers to enjoy so much freedom in the Cryptocurrency industry at the moment.

A Developer’s Dream

U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeThe application has just been made in this last couple of days and is called “Blockchain For Program Code Credit and Programmer Contribution in a Collective”. It was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This particular application could very well provide life changing for developers because it will allow them to track their work easily. This is something that is crucial to a developer especially when there are mistakes or bugs in the code to fix. The blockchain which the software is based on also allows additional information to be stored alongside the tracking. These details could include credits or dispute resolutions or simply important code data. The very fact that is this possible is a huge turning point for the industry because it also allows several developers to be able to work together on a project offering credit where it is due. As we all know, this can be a contentious point with many industries especially where intellectual property is concerned. With this new concept, programmers can be credited for the work and the part they have played. Currently there is now way to do this and all developers are praised as a total for the project as a whole.

Blockchain Smart Contracts

This is in addition to another application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office back in April of this year. This particular request was specific to Blockchain smart contracts. The aim with this new concept is to allow a network to still be able to use Blockchain smart contracts securely using all devices on the network. In the past, this has not been possible to achieve and has been a major sticking for developers for some time. This new solution would still use Bitcoin’s proof-of-work system as its ability to add a block of data forms a vital process of the new process. What is would do however is restrict the amount of one-time-use numbers leaving more room for complex work to be completed in the background. The result would be that all of the devices on the network would be able to have the same amount of chances for completing proof-of-work successfully. A major feat.

The IBM Future

IBM has been a monumental force in the computer industry for years and it is great to see the company actively embracing the new digital economy. The firm seems to have moved seamlessly into the new generation of technology and without to much noise has been developing major breakthroughs to keep it ahead of the game. Undoubtedly there will be more and more ground breaking news from IBM unfolding real soon.
